After having replaced Álex Rins alongside Joan Mir during the MotoGP test following the Catalan Grand Prix, Sylvain Guintoli headed to Le Mans where, at the end of a particularly trying week due to high temperatures, the Swiss army knife from Hamamatsu climbed to the highest step of the podium alongside Gregg Black and Xavier Siméon.
With such a program shared for hours behind the bars of the Suzuki GSX-RR of the Suzuki Ecstar team and the Suzuki GSX-R of the Yoshimura SERT team, the most British of French riders could legitimately have considered a well-deserved week of vacation …
But no ! This was without counting on the MotoGP test program which also included a two-day private test on the Jerez circuit!
91 laps from Tuesday allowed the 38-year-old rider not to let his sore muscles cool down, followed by 80 laps on Wednesday to maintain the pace and fine-tune the start procedures which are becoming so important in MotoGP…
Far from complaining, Sylvain Guintoli particularly appreciated the fact of having the track to himself, unlike at Le Mans where he had to share it with a number of slower drivers.
And now ? A little vacation, comments on Canal+ or a test of the 200 horsepower katana ?
