Dani Pedrosa was able to test a Paton and a Norton from the 1960s on the Calafat circuit with which he will participate in the Goodwood Revival in September.

Dani Pedrosa appears to be struggling to give up petrol and circuits completely, as the KTM test rider is set to ride at the Goodwood Revival in September. The Calafat Circuit welcomed the Spanish rider to test the historic motorcycles, very different from the KTM MotoGP.

The KTM tester had a 500 Paton 1967cc twin and a 1962 Norton Manx single cylinder at his disposal. For Dani, who spoke to formulamoto.es, it was a great experience.

“I was told that classic motorcycle enthusiasts also dressed in the old-fashioned way” joked the man from Castellar de Vallés. Pedrosa hopes « not to be disoriented” for the classic event where not only classic motorcycles will be used, but also four-wheeled vehicles.

For Pedrosa, it was obviously a very strange feeling: « They are very different to fly. The Paton has difficulty taking turns and keeping pace. It's almost like driving a two-stroke, you have to be very precise. With the Norton, on the other hand, everything is easier, also because it adapts better to this track” referring to the Calafat circuit.

The difference with his current KTM is abysmal: « Compared to current motorcycles, they have drum brakes and the gearbox selector is on the right: for me this is completely new, so I have to concentrate to avoid mistakes. It’s really interesting to see how they drove fifty years ago.”

In addition to these two bikes, the Goodwood circuit will also be new for the KTM test rider: « It is said to be a very fast track and you don't have much time to learn it. I hope the weather will be nice so I can do a good number of laps. I also hope that the bike will be good every day” Pedrosa said. For Dani, the goal of Goodwood is « to be entertained and have fun ».
