The three-year period in MotoGP from 2020-2022 with HRC has not been an easy start for Alex Marquez. After a first year under the official colors of Repsol Honda during which he collected two podiums, he had to accept the transfer to LCR without ever being able to reach the top 3. Despite two podium finishes as a rookie in 2020, his commitment was not rewarded and the team promoted Pol Espargaro even before putting the youngest of Cervera's brothers to the test. His dream " was to succeed with Repsol », just like his brother during his MotoGP debut in 2013. It was rather the beginning of a long ordeal which led him to review his plans.

In the satellite team, the situation gradually got worse until it became something really critical in 2022. “ I had no weapon to fight with ", tells Alex in the 'Full Throttle' podcast. “ It's something who pushed me mentally to the limit last year. I spent three weeks without a motorbike because it was hard for me, I was mentally destroyed ". At LCR, he found a warm and familiar environment, “ we worked a lot with Lucio (Cecchinello, editor’s note) but it was like Honda wasn't interested ».

After two excellent rounds at Portimao and Termas, where he achieved a third place, bad luck followed him in the next three rounds with a series of falls and accidents. Alex Marquez is particularly active on social media these days, excited about the love that has blossomed between his brother Marc and Gemma. On social media, he ironically launched a campaign to stop Marc from evicting him from the house he shares on the outskirts of Madrid. “ I hope they don't pack my bags and throw me out of the house ".
