MotoGP, Petronas Yamaha SRT: a historic presentation for Malaysia and Quartararo!

It's officially launched! The brand new team Petronas Yamaha SRT validated his birth certificate, on his land, at the headquarters of his title sponsor, by presenting his war paint for the 2019 season. The dress, both black and turquoise, looks great and will be repeated in the three categories of Grand Prix. An event appreciated by Fabio Quartararo who will also make his debut in the premier category.

The case was put together in six months and the result is stunning. It is also historic for a MotoGP which welcomes a Malaysian structure to its starting grid. Razlan Razali the CEO Sepang International Circuit and Team Principal of Petronas Yamaha SRT, insists on this first: “ This is a historic moment for Malaysian sport, a day that we will not soon forget because no team from our country has ever entered MotoGP before. Needless to say, it’s a source of great pride! It's a dream come true, but the moment of truth was actually the first test and we felt huge support from Yamaha ».

From the brand with three tuning forks comes a Ramon Forcada as chief engineer of Morbidely and Wilco Zeelenberg who will be the team manager. Experienced men if there ever was one. The latter commented: “ for this we can count on a Yamaha M1, renowned for its power and stability ».

Two pilots also wore broad smiles. One of which was perhaps a little more pronounced on the side of fabio quartararo : " the first Valencia Test was simply incredible. This power, this electronics… it’s a big change from Moto2. I have a lot to learn. For the moment I feel good. I am indeed the youngest, but I prefer not to think too much about age. I just want to have fun on the bike and achieve great results. Visually the bike looks incredible. ».

His teammate Franco Morbidelli added: “ I am very proud to be part of this project. I am convinced that we can do great things jointly with Petronas and the SRT. Things have started off pretty well so far. But we will continue to work to try to give our best in all circumstances. A big thank you to everyone. I really hope to get some nice results, to make you happy ».
