Phillip Öttl

Philipp Öttl has started his winter training well in preparation for a WSBK season which he will begin next month in Australia, on the Phillip Island track. A former Grand Prix rider, he is now a Ducati rider in the category reserved for machines derived from the series. The German chose to spend six days on the Valencia track aboard a Panigale V4S, with two other renowned riders, Alex Rins and Johann Zarco. A Frenchman whom he followed closely, literally and figuratively…

Philipp Ottl is the World Superbike rider for the Go Eleven team and he is preparing to face his second season in the SBK World Championship aboard a Ducati Panigale V4R. In two weeks he will do an offseason test at Jerez and to show himself to his advantage, he spent six days Valencia to grind down the track with a Panigale V4S in good company.

As reported speedweek, Öttl completed 200 laps in six days, also achieving times consistent with those of Johann zarco… A reference which he obviously welcomes: “ the first part of the preparations for my second season in the Superbike World Championship is complete » declared the German from 26 years. “ We had a perfect six days in Valencia, which allowed me to get used to the speed and power again ».

Philipp Öttl: “ I learned a lot from Johann Zarco« 

He adds : " this will help me for the first test with the racing bike. I was able to do a lot of laps with Johann Zarco, from whom I learned a lot. Our times were at the same level. So far, I have enjoyed this preparation period and am satisfied with the results obtained. I can't wait to attend the team presentation and then work with the team and my new Ducati SBK ».

Next week will take place the presentation of the Go Eleven team, then head to the Jerez tests which officially open the 2023 vintage. January 26 and 27. The off-season will continue at Portimao on January 31 and February 1, after which the material will be sent to Australia by air freight. Another test will take place on Phillip Island, a two-hour drive south of Melbourne, on Monday and Tuesday before the championship kicks off the last weekend of February.
