KTM have ended ongoing speculation in the transfer market by stating that signing Marc Marquez or Jorge Martin is not realistic for them. The confirmation of Pit Beirer, sporting director of KTM, at the MotoGP of Catalonia, thus ruled out a major option for the two Ducati riders.

Marc Marquez of Gresini and Jorge Martin of Pramac are both aiming for the position of official pilot at Ducati in 2025. However, with three top drivers vying for just one place, two of them are bound to be disappointed. KTM had been mentioned as a possible refuge for those who would miss their chance at Ducati.

« I was asked if we would hire Jorge Martin or Marc Marquez, " said Beirer in Barcelona. “ I tried to put myself out of this discussion. I didn't want to look like this important guy who might get a guy like Martin or Marquez. I think we can't."

Pit Beirer: “ now is the time to protect our pilots »

Beirer clearly indicated that the priority of KTM was to support and improve the performance of its current drivers. “ Now is the time to protect our pilots. This is our greatest motivation to bring our four drivers to their performance level. We want to get Brad where he wants to be. Also, for Jack and Augusto. Our motivation at this stage of the year is to bring our four guys to the maximum level and not talk to the other drivers, to put pressure on those we have."

KTM tied Brad Binder et Peter Acosta long term, but contracts Jack Miller et Augusto Fernandez expire at the end of this year. Beirer insisted that the MotoGP world eagerly awaits the decision of Ducati regarding the composition of their drivers for 2025.

« The whole paddock is watching. Afterwards, for sure, there will be movement,” added Beirer on crash.net. " Managers will start running, especially for those who don't get the red task. It’s an interesting and exciting time. I hope the paddock will be balanced and that each factory will have its superstar. We already have superstars."

By clarifying their position, KTM focuses on developing its current talents, leaving Marquez et Martin explore other opportunities in a bustling MotoGP paddock.
