Almost a week before the first official tests of 2020, the MotoGP engines are more ready than ever to roar on the track, and in particular that of the KTM, the Austrian team absolutely wishing to make up for its delay on the rest of the peloton this year. After significant progress last year, the Orange clan expects even more from this new season, starting with its main driver, Pol Espargaró.

The Spaniard had a good 2019 season and managed to achieve several highlights, such as his first row during qualifying at Misano or his fantastic start to the race at the French Grand Prix, which he finally finished in sixth position. . However, the gap with the other machines still proved to be very significant on certain tracks, and not all the GPs were as positive, far from it.

“The season was good, but it is certain that in the last races of the season we were not where we wanted”, did he declare. “Whether it's me or the team, we're not happy with the four races [overseas], but despite that we [scored] 100 points in the Championship, which seemed very complicated last year.”

“We are making a lot of progress, although once again we are not doing it as much as we would like because I am in an ambitious factory and I am an ambitious person myself. But I think that with work everything will happen. »

With his 100 points in the general classification, he has in fact doubled his result from 2018, which saw him finish with 51 points. Figures that speak for themselves, despite the ups and downs. So when it's time to return to the track, number 44 is rather optimistic: “You have to have more confidence in what I can do, what the bike can do and what the team can do, and also pass that on to all the mechanics and engineers. We have to start thinking big. »
