During FP1 of the MotoGP category in Portimao, a new television camera made its debut, mounted directly on the rider's left shoulder. The first driver to be equipped with it was Alex Rins, during FP1 yesterday morning. The director thus offered all viewers an impressive view aboard his Suzuki, as if we were there.

Dorna has long been at the forefront of innovation to provide the best possible experience for its viewers. From gyroscopic cameras to those integrated into the dashboard, allowing a closer look at the pilot, Dorna tested in Portimao a camera integrated into Alex Rins' suit, at shoulder level. The images are simply magnificent!

This new feature offered by Dorna, the “shoulder cam”, allows for a new kind of experience. This allows you to be in the pilot's place, and to realize how many actions the pilot has to perform on the handlebars during a lap. The Ride Height Device activation lever is particularly clearly visible on the left thumb and the Spanish driver activates it several times during a lap.

“I have to thank Dorna for giving me this opportunity. But it wasn't easy, because the Japanese have a different way of working than us and they only let me use it in FP1." , explained the Suzuki rider. « The images are amazing and it didn't bother me, so I think later this can be used by more pilots. »

The Catalan pilot also addressed the fear of reveal a secret about your motorcycle or your riding technique . « I'm not. You can see the dashboard, lap time and some information regarding the maps used. But you can't tell what's inside the cartography. Information regarding engine speeds is already broadcast on television. At In the end, all MotoGP teams have on-board cameras, they analyze them, they study the GPS data… for my part, I’m not worried. With all the images that already exist, people already know everything.”

We can only hope that this innovation makes its appearance in the race, in order to experience the action up close!
