This Sunday, November 7, 2021, Andrea Dovizioso answered questions from journalists from the Algarve International Autodrome in Portimão, at the end of the third day of the Grande Prémio Brembo do Algarve.

We went to listen (via teleconferencing software) to the words of the Italian driver, who finished in 14th place in the race.

As usual, we report here the words ofAndrea Dovizioso without the slightest formatting.

Andrea, how did your race go?

« When you start from 21st position it complicates things, especially when you are in my position. But overall I think I had a consistent race, even if it took me a while to overtake some drivers and I couldn't stay with Valentino Rossi. However, I had a similar rhythm to Luca Marini and Valentino. »

« I felt like I had some gains to make this weekend, so that's positive. Of course we were far from pole position, but overall in MotoGP everyone achieves fairly similar laps, if we put aside the headliners. I don't want to talk too much about my final position, because what was important was to be consistent until the last lap, which we managed to do, so it's good overall. »

You have decided to change your rear tire for the race, going from medium to hard, what was the reason for this change, and do you think you could have obtained a better result with the medium?

« I think the temperatures this weekend were different from those experienced in April. In April the hard tire was much better, but it was still really limited to use it, because it was not easy to heat it up enough to get its full potential. But for me the potential of the two compounds was quite similar this weekend, and moreover if you look closely no one complained whatever the tire used. Overall, it all depends on the bike you have and your riding style. »

Andrea Dovizioso, Algarve MotoGP race, 7 November 2021

What do you think about what happened during the Moto3 race, where Darryn Binder crashed into Dennis Foggia's bike, while the latter was fighting for the title? Binder will make the big jump from Moto3 to MotoGP next year and will be your teammate…

« It's not great what we saw, especially when you consider that one of the drivers involved was fighting to defend his championship chances. It's normal to be aggressive, and in Moto3 you need to be aggressive anyway if you want to gain positions, especially in the last three laps. »

« But what Darryn did is wrong, because you always have to do it intelligently. But it's always difficult because in those moments everyone is at the limit, and if you try to brake five meters later this kind of accident can happen. But in the end I think everyone should have stayed a little calmer, because there were drivers fighting for the championship. »

« Regarding the arrival of Darryn Binder in MotoGP next year, we will see how it goes. His move straight from Moto3 to MotoGP seemed strange to many, but after all it was a team decision. »
