On this Saturday, November 21, fabio quartararo answered questions from journalists from the Algarve Autodrome in Portimão at the end of the second day of the Portuguese Grand Prix.

We went to listen (via teleconferencing software) to the words of the French pilot.

As usual, we report here the words of Fabio Quartararo without the slightest formatting, even if the first part is translated from English (vouvoiement).

fabio quartararo : " It was a positive day. In Valencia, we struggled a lot and we were very far away: 16th, 17th, 11th! Whereas today, we still struggled but we were able to manage to be fifth in qualifying. I think it's positive because the feeling wasn't there and the sensations weren't very good. »

It looks like you had a pretty good pace in FP4. What tires will you use in the race and how do they perform?

« The tire destroys very quickly, and currently, the Super Hard is the option I had. I had a very good feeling with the Hard, but the Super Hard is also very good. As I said, I think tomorrow's warm up will be very important to look at the consistency with all the tires, because with new tires it's not that bad. So I think we can have a good race tomorrow, and that's the goal. We can still have a good pace, have a good race, and I want to finish in a really good way. »

Does the tire really deteriorate a lot?

« Yes ! As I said, for me the degradation is very important and that's why I'm going with the Super Hard. I hope I have good grip… Well, not good grip but something stable for the last five laps of the race. »

What do you think will be possible during the race tomorrow?

« If we find something tomorrow that I think is positive, I think a top five would be a very good position. Miguel and Pol have really good pace and are going to be very difficult to follow, I feel confident and I think we can have a good race tomorrow. It will be very special, but like I said, being fifth in qualifying is positive for me after a difficult day. I think it's very good to finish fifth when things aren't going well and that consistency is what we have this year. I hope we will have it next year because it is very important. »

After this season with many ups and downs, you finally win the BMW M. Have you had the chance to try it?

« As you say, the season had its ups and downs but I can now say that I won something this year (laughs)! I won the BMW Award and I'm going to test drive the car in half an hour. But ultimately, this car won't even be for me. I'm going to give it as a gift to my dad because it was always very funny that we always talked about this car after qualifying. So it will be a gift for him but I hope he can lend it to me for a few days when I go to see him (laughs). »

Yesterday you said you were going to work on your emotions. Can we know a little more? And what are you going to do next week?

« Next week I mainly want to relax and take a break from all the media and all that kind of stuff. I want to 100% disconnect from the bike and go see my family, because honestly it's been a long time since I've really seen them. It will therefore be very important to disconnect. As for the emotional side, I have already started working to be calmer and suffer my emotions as little as possible. But of course, I planned to see a psychologist at my home next week. I have been there several times before but I will go more often because I think that small differences can produce big changes. So I will go back to the psychologist to work on this, because for me providing details to my team is very important. »
