Initially planned, the public did not ultimately receive authorization to come and attend the Portuguese Grand Prix which is currently taking place this weekend on the Portimao circuit.

However, more was needed to discourage a handful of diehards who made it their duty to pay homage to their idol, very popular in his country.

The surprise was therefore as great as the emotion for the Tech3 driver who, on his way to the circuit, gradually saw a long procession of bikers forming to accompany him to the grounds of the Autodromo do Algarve .

Visibly affected, Miguel Oliveira did his best to thank them from his first laps on the hilly track, setting the best time in the first session, then dominating the second before being overtaken by half a second in the final minutes.

Miguel Oliveira : " We had a good first day here in Portimao. I think from morning to afternoon we were able to tune the bike better. There are still a few things to improve, that's for sure, because it's a new track. For my part, I feel very good on the bike, and I enjoy every lap on this track. This afternoon we wanted to save an extra soft tire for tomorrow morning, so I think we weren't able to get the most out of our package, but I'm still happy with this opening day. »

A surprise for Sunday?
