Bastianini Qatar

Bastianini and Marini will face a new challenge. Last year, Enea Bastianini was crowned on the Portimao track which was then playing the last part of the Moto2 season. A race that his now MotoGP teammate Luca Marini finished in second position. Good memories that the two Italians will have to keep in mind before launching into the unknown for a Portuguese Grand Prix this time in MotoGP version. A first for the two Ducati rookies placed with Avintia. This will be the first time that this transalpine pair will drive the GP19 elsewhere than on the Losail track…

The debutante ball in MotoGP is currently led by George Martin who burst the screen with his GP21 during the last Doha Grand Prix. However, in terms of consistency in performance, it is towards the reigning Moto2 World Champion Enea Bastianini that we must turn. The protégé of Charles Pernat also made a good impression after two Grands Prix in Qatar. But Portimao will be a different story.

bastianini thus approaches the third round of the MotoGP championship: “ Portimao is a very fun track, I have very good memories from last year. It will be something new because we have only competed in Qatar so far. I'm really looking forward to riding a MotoGP on another track. We have to stay focused to be fast and improve, although I think this weekend will be more complicated than the previous ones. We will see how my adaptation to this track goes with the Ducati ».

Bastianini and Marini are in unison: it will be harder

A concern that is shared by his teammate Luca Marini who has as much GP19 experience as him. But with the addition of an ergonomic problem to resolve… “ It will be an interesting weekend. For the first time, I will ride with MotoGP on a track that is not Qatar. We will try to give our best and see the gap from the start. We will start from the Losail base and then I will have to concentrate on learning the lines, trajectories and braking points of the track as quickly as possible. There will also be work to be done on the tires. Compared to Qatar, the choice here will be less obvious between hard, soft and medium. I really like the track and I'm curious to see how it will turn out » ends the half-brother of Valentino Rossi.
