Portugal Championship Davide Tardozzi

In the excitement of the Portuguese Grand Prix, the traffic light went out at 15:02 p.m., launching hostilities on the Portimao circuit. From the outset, Jorge Martín took the lead, closely followed by Maverick Viñales, winner of the Sprint Race the day before, and Enea Bastianini in pole position. Pecco Bagnaia clings to his fourth place, followed by a resolute Marc Marquez, who occupies fifth position from the start.

Martin, free from any pressure, tries to widen the gap. From the first lap, he distances Casa Particular in Viñales by more than six tenths, while Bastianini, Bagnaia et Marc Marquez make up a chasing Ducati train. The first incidents occur quickly: Franco Morbidelli fall before the end of the first round, followed byAlex Marquez, both leaving without damage.

Peter Acosta, in eighth position behind the KTM de Miller et Binder, displays remarkable aggression, ready to go back up. The race experienced a new twist with the fall of Raul Fernandez in the fourth round. After seven rounds, an error of Miller opens the way to Acosta et Binder, the young Murcian overtaking Binder to move up to sixth position.

Acosta does not stop there and, taking advantage of an opportunity at turn 1, overtakes Marc Marquez to grab fifth place, with 18 laps still remaining. On your mind, Martin imposes its rhythm, followed by Casa Particular in Viñales et bastianini, bagnaia already feeling the threat ofAcosta behind him.

In Portugal, Pedro Acosta settled the cases of Binder, Marquez and Bagnaia without firing a shot

The duel between bagnaia et Acosta is intense, the Spaniard struggling to find a way against the double world champion until a slight mistake bagnaia at the third turn offers Acosta the opportunity to infiltrate and take fourth place.

With the second half of the race underway, Martin accentuates its advance, Casa Particular in Viñales et bastianini failing to catch up with him, and Acosta detaches itself from bagnaia, now threatened by Marc Marquez. It is then that a dramatic turning point occurs: a collision between bagnaia et Marquez eliminates them both from the competition.

The last round still holds surprises, Casa Particular in Viñales falling and leaving bastianini et Acosta overtake him to finish second and third respectively, Acosta thus securing his first podium in MotoGP.

The Race ends with a masterful victory of George Martin, who takes the lead in the MotoGP championship, followed by bastianini et Acosta, who celebrate on the podium. Behind them, Brad Binder, Jack Miller and the others complete the top ten, while Martin sits comfortably at the top of the rankings with 60 points, ahead of Binder, bastianini, bagnaia and ... Acosta ! At 19 years 9 months and 28 days, Peter Acosta is the 3rd youngest in history to reach the podium after Randy Mamola, 19 years 8 months 19 days (Finland 1979) and Eduardo Salatino, 19 years 9 months 1 day (Argentina 1962).
