Jorge Martin, nicknamed 'Martinator', has shared his thoughts following his third place finish in the Portuguese Grand Prix Sprint Race with Sky Sport. After brilliantly winning the Sprint Race in Qatar and securing a podium during the Sunday long race at Losail, Martin encountered difficulties on the Portuguese track.

Starting the race on the front row, he quickly lost a few places and, towards the end, suffering the onslaught of Marc Marquez which finally doubled him. Jorge Martin does not hide his disappointment: “ the vibrations resurfaced after a few laps, and I really struggled,” he explains.

He also regrets not having been able to surpass Maverick Vinales, believing that he had the potential to do so: “ it's a shame not to have surpassed Maverick ; I felt stronger than him at that moment. My start wasn't ideal, but finishing in the top 3 despite all these problems isn't so bad ».

It recognizes the speed of Casa Particular in Viñales, especially in the fourth sector and its ability to quickly exit slow corners thanks to excellent traction. “ In the penultimate lap, I made a mistake which allowed Marc to get closer. I didn't expect him to take his chance at turn five, but I knew he was going to try,” concludes Martin, showing sportsmanship by recognizing the competitiveness of his opponents.
