Jack Miller

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team rider Jack Miller has given his thoughts after finishing fifth at the Portuguese Grand Prix, highlighting some dissatisfaction with his race speed compared to that of his rivals and Brad Binder, his teammate. But the Australian also spoke about Pedro Acosta who turned everything upside down within his Pierer Mobility group, and who is forcing him to deeply question himself...

« Overall it was a satisfying weekend. I tried to keep up with the leaders, but I lacked a little speed. I found my rhythm in certain sectors, but I struggled in the last one, which prevented me from staying in contact. Despite everything, there are positives to take away from this weekend. Our bike showed great potential, and we made progress on all fronts. We just need to fully exploit this potential. ", said Jack Miller during a post-race briefing.

Asked about the potential lack of grip having impacted his speed, Miller agrees: “ indeed, that might be the case. The problem is not so much in the middle of the corner as when entering certain slow corners, where the lack of grip at the rear also affects the exit of the corner. Fortunately, between Pedro and Brad, we have a lot of information to analyze to understand our differences. We have already improved our race pace and our ability to attack, so we will look to understand how to improve further ».

Jack Miller: “ against Pedro Acosta, I felt helpless, he was just too strong »

Jack Miller then mentioned Peter Acosta, a young driver who impressed him with his performance throughout the race: “ it was really a beautiful day for Pedro, he was exceptional on the bike. In front of him, I felt helpless, he was simply too strong. NOW, I concentrate on the circuits that are close to my heart, knowing that we need to refine some details and better understand our machine. I am satisfied with my driving this weekend and I remain convinced that we can be very competitive ».

Regarding the driving style ofAcosta, Jack Miller is full of praise: “ it's not so much his riding on the bike that's impressive, it's his way of being almost outside the bike, with his head close to the ground. I wish I could drive like him; he has amazing style, probably more than me. It has become a reference for me, a source of learning, even 29 years. Watch drivers like Martin and he clearly show that the new generation is revolutionizing the style of driving. Maybe I should take up Pilates to improve, who knows? ».
