Marco Portugal Bezzecchi

Marco Bezzecchi was unable to fight with his friends in Portugal. He who, not long ago, managed to dazzle the motorcycle world, no longer has the same impact in the premier category. Yesterday, he put his finger on what was wrong with the Desmosedici GP23. And then, even today, his final result – although influenced by the falls in front of him – is not so bad. A sixth place, with Marc Marquez scoring zero points, is a good one to take. Yes but there you go; It's hard to be satisfied with that when you won by more than eight seconds in India just a few months ago.

“I managed to do some good laps, not at the level of the best, but my confidence with the bike has improved” confided Marco Bezzecchi at the end of this 2024 Portuguese Grand Prix. Between yesterday and today, the Italian has made progress, but the tone used betrays a mixture of latent disappointment and hope. “Today's race wasn't fantastic, but it was a clear improvement on Qatar. We have collected a lot of information and that is the most important thing” he added.

With a good rhythm, the “Bez” felt that there was something to play on the hills of Portimao. But unfortunately for him, a bad start prevented him from fully expressing his potential. «  The real problem was in the first turns, I was not incisive and the pressure on the front tire immediately increased. In these conditions, it's even more difficult, then with the track clear, I felt better and I didn't finish badly" he concluded as he got off his machine.

To USA, Marco Bezzecchi will attempt a real return to business. We're willing to bet that he would have liked another Argentine Grand Prix, given his performance a year ago. Talent is not lost in such a short time, and if the Italian has patience, then he will once again become that dangerous and charismatic outsider that we all know.
