Massimo Rivola is a happy man. It's a strange statement to make, because fate hasn't been kind to him this season. Between Jorge Martin's numerous injuries and that infamous contract dispute, he's been left with only one full-time factory rider all year. But what a rider! Marco Bezzecchi, winner in PortugalHe alone represents the hopes of the Noale firm. And, naturally, Rivola sees him fighting for a world championship in 2026.
The Aprilia team director spoke at length to the Italian media. GP One after his driver's second Grand Prix victory. Bezzecchi, on fire since mid-season, makes him particularly proud. « I always thought he was an exceptional pilotI was lucky he had an average season last year, because now it's all the more of a surprise. We're all eager to see what he'll do in 2026, because expectations will be high. I'm convinced that with his approach, he can only succeed. For now, we're focused on our own bike, not on anyone else's. And the 2026 RS-GP will be better. » he asserted.

While he readily acknowledges Bezzecchi's value, he knows that something more will be needed to catch Marc Marquez on an individual level. “We try to focus on our own performance, and Bezzecchi is good, but Marc Marquez remains the benchmark. We have to work hard. The others aren't going to rest on their laurels, so if we think that will be enough to compete for the world championship, we're mistaken. But we will do everything we can to achieve it. » he continued. That may be true, but it's rather strange for a team manager to say it so frankly.

Aprilia can rely on another strength to clinch the crown: aerodynamics, the strong point of the RS-GP. « Aprilia has many engineers from the world of Formula 1 in its ranks. For some time now, we have been ahead in terms of aerodynamics; we hold numerous patents. But this also means that we must redouble our efforts to avoid losing this advantage. » he concluded.
