Portugal Portimao

Portugal welcomes the world of Grands Prix this weekend on its selective Portimao track. A challenge that did not frighten Marc Marquez who, after a nine-month convalescence, will make his comeback in competition on a circuit that he has never ridden on a MotoGP. Furthermore, with a Formula 1 Grand Prix taking place at the same time in Emilia Romagna, the usual program had to be adapted…

After the first two meetings on the calendar organized at Qatar on a site of losail which had also received the off-season tests, the Grand Prix paddock returns to the front for this third battle of the year. It will be that of Portimao, for a Portuguese Grand Prix where the pilots Petronas will seek to erase the disappointment experienced at Doha and notably shared by the troops KTM. Great hopes and expectations can be detected in this area since, last year, Miguel Oliveira and its RC16 dominated the subject and thus closed the 2020 season with panache.

But we are starting from scratch and especially since for this Portuguese edition, we have among the staff a Marc Marquez who had been forced to miss the first visit. The official Honda is back in the game, and this will not be the least of the interests in this first meeting in Europe of the year.

Portugal: Moto2 will provide the final bouquet

We will recall that it is Johann zarco on the Ducati Pramac which will initiate hostilities as leader of the championnat. Last year, Jack Miller, with the satellite GP20, was on the podium. The same Miller will be there officially Ducati, just operated on for compartment syndrome likeIker Lecuona, the Tech3 KTM rider.

Finally, this meeting in the Algarve will be closed by the Moto2. THE MotoGP will be in the middle of the program, so as not to do the show at the same time as the Formula 1 who will be in Italy…
