Simple coincidence or influence of one on the other, the fact remains that after Pol Espargaró’s indictment against the holeshot device, it is the turn of his teammate, Marc Márquez, to speak out against the systems intended to lower the center of gravity of MotoGP.

It must be said that the latter are now all equipped with them, and for the most part at the front and rear (see article here) at the cost of sometimes delicate handling, enough to intimidate the multiple world champion who is making his comeback this weekend in Portugal.

The Catalan driver admits that he has obviously not tried these systems, initially designed to encourage starts but which are also used today for some when exiting corners and on the straights. He therefore reserves his final judgment but, with the fresh perspective of someone who has not ridden for nine months, an eternity in MotoGP, considers this artifice as having no meaning.

Also, when asked at a press conference what his opinion is on holeshot devices and how important it is today for the race, Marc Márquez answers : “Of course I've never used one, but of course they explained to me today the front system and the rear system. We will use it since everyone uses it and it's something I have to get used to when riding. For starts it will be important, and even for riding, but for me, speaking frankly, it doesn't make sense to have a holeshot device on a motorcycle. Two years ago, there was no holeshot device, even on the straights, and the spectacle was the same on television. But now everyone uses it so of course we will use it, but for me this extra device does not improve the show. It will even be more difficult to double, so we will use it but at first I don't like it. »
