• The new MICHELIN Power Slick rubber compounds for the MotoGP™ World Championship arrive in Portugal after an impressive debut at the Losail circuit in Qatar.
• The grip, stability and consistency of Michelin tires represent the best combination to try to establish new records on the track of the Autódromo International do Algarve.

The Grande Prémio Tissot de Portugal takes place like last year during the fourth weekend of March. But while in 2023 it symbolized the opening round of the MotoGP World Championship, this time it is the second Grand Prix of the season. Two weeks ago, during the Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar, the 22 MotoGP riders were already able to experience the new MICHELIN Power Slick ranges, the performance of which they had discovered during testing. The absolute track record and the fastest lap time in the race having been beaten, the riders are now planning to panic the stopwatches on the track of the Autódromo International do Algarve, in the light of a motorcycle/tire combination which has once again reached a milestone. New records could be set thanks to the new rubber compounds designed by Michelin engineers.

Built in a very pleasant natural environment, the Portimão circuit has a length of 4,6 km with 15 turns (nine on the right and six on the left), and can accommodate up to 100 people. The long pit straight, almost a kilometer long, allows drivers to exceed 000 km/h. The hilly profile of the route, and in particular the descent towards turn 350, earned it the nickname “high-speed slide”. The level of grip is considered quite good by the drivers, but the weather is still an uncertainty. It is true that a few kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean, there can be wind or showers. But whatever the conditions, Michelin tires will provide a solution!

Michelin will also bring, in the event of rain, its MICHELIN Power Rain range, which here consists of symmetrical Soft and Medium tires for the front, as well as asymmetrical Soft and Medium rubbers for the rear, with a harder right side.
