We know very well that the winter break is generally not very rich in news and, as a result, the web is teeming with talk shows dedicated to MotoGP, like the one in Spanish hosted on Youtube by Manuel Pecino and Chicho Lorenzo, “Motogepeando”.

The famous journalist and the father of the former pilot Jorge Lorenzo debate and share their respective points of view, fueled by rumors of a virtualized paddock. In this week's episode, the two men decipher in detail and with interest the return ofAndrea Dovizioso in the Yamaha fold, with a touch of fabio quartararo to finish their conversation.

But there, surprise, boy lorenzo freezes in a clear-cut position regarding the reigning world champion, an attitude that seems to surprise and disconcert Manuel Pecino himself...

Manuel Pecino: “Let’s continue with Quartararo.

Chicho Lorenzo: yes, it's interesting.

Manuel Pecino: It is clear, from my point of view, from the fact that Quartararo went to see Dovi to give him a helping hand, it is clear that for Quartararo Dovizioso is not a rival, otherwise he would not do it. He's looking for someone to have a bond with, isn't he? Because for Dovizioso, in the end, what is clear is that Yamaha hired Dovizioso to give them a hand in the development of the bike. So much so, Chicho, that yesterday I was told that Yamaha is putting new people on the engineering team to work directly with Andrea, which means that Andrea is not going to (win?) this year… Listen , I think Andrea, if he finishes a race in the top 5, it's like he wins a Grand Prix. That's how I see it. So his job will not be to fight to win, for that they already have Quartararo and, hopefully, Morbidelli, but his job will be different. I was also told that logically Yamaha has worked hard to reduce the difference in top speed compared to Honda and Ducati, but no one should expect it, because this has never been the case in history , so that the Yamaha works like a Honda or a Ducati. What you need to do is lose as little as possible, and it looks like Yamaha engineers are working on that.

Chicho Lorenzo: What I see is that if it is true that Quartararo is looking for allies, it is because he is not very confident, is he?

Manuel Pecino: I do not know. I think that for example he doesn't do it with Morbidelli, like when Marquez is friends with Crutchlow, because in the end Crutchlow is not an opponent of Marc. I think Fabio's strategy is the right one and it's what he should do.

Chicho Lorenzo: Man, a driver's ideal strategy can be to prepare very well for the season, and to work alone.

Manuel Pecino: But if he reaches out to someone who can...

Chicho Lorenzo: No ! Look, it never works!

Manuel Pecino: No ?

Chicho Lorenzo: No !

What follows is “proof” according to the father of the champion, with the case Jack Miller et Francesco Bagnaia in Misano…
And you have the proof, the race in which Miller was Pecco Bagnaia's teammate. He went to the ground, because he was in something else, he was not in his race but he was playing the role of the team, and Pecco Bagnaia also went to the ground. So the race in which it was the most important thing, to be first and second, a well-organized teamwork was ultimately a complete failure. As in the majority of cases over the many years I have been monitoring this subject.

Manuel Pecino then tries to conclude: I just think it's that he (Fabio Quartararo) is trying to make Dovizioso fast with the bike, he's not looking for allies. »

But Chicho Lorenzo then explains that, for this, Andrea Dovizioso will have to start by changing your riding style and taking your torso out of the bike more…

In summary, according to Chicho Lorenzo, Fabio Quartararo must only count on himself for this 2022 season. That’s good, since that’s what he’s always done!
