Marc Van der Straten is a colorful character. Of noble rank, he owes his success not to his title but to his way of mastering the production of hop juice. By rolling his bump, he gathered his foam and now his colors can boast of having won three World Champion titles in Moto2. There was even a foray into MotoGP. The sadness is that every time the Marc VDS team can legitimately bask in its glory, something gets in the way. If it's not a political implosion, it's a rider who is rising too quickly in MotoGP... But the Count is happy, the proof with his idea for the 202 season...

On this subject, it will be recalled that the Moto2, as the Moto3, launched its season in March at Qatar, unlike a MotoGP whose Jerez will truly mark the start of hostilities. In an internal communication he gives his feelings on the process which will resume, in the very particular conditions imposed by Covid-19 and its health constraints.

« It will be very unconventional and the beginning will not be easy. Many health measures must be taken with prevention at all levels: limitation of technicians in the teams, absence of public, closed paddock... Working in these conditions is obviously not ideal, but we must remain positive and consider this as the first step in returning to normal » assures the Belgian who lingers behind closed doors… “ You could say it's like selling caviar in a cardboard box. It's a real shame that we won't be able to count on the presence of the public cheering the drivers from the stands, and that the usual lively paddock will be practically deserted. But once again, everyone's health comes before everything else. Hopefully the situation improves and we can finish the season on open circuits enjoying this unique atmosphere that we love so much ».

The season will be special but it will nevertheless remain of a high level and will consecrate a true World Champion: “ it will be interesting to measure the ability of drivers and teams to adapt to this new situation. I think about circuit repetition. At each event, you will have to try to learn lessons as best as possible to implement a new strategy the following weekend. ».

" Everything changed "

« The approach that each party will have to this new competition can only modify the balance of power. Everything changed. Fewer circuits, fewer races, but also less room for mistakes, more intensity, and perhaps more equality... It will be different, but the champion will be the champion ».

He finally ends with a thank you to his partners who have held the course in these last difficult months: “ I have always said that our sponsors are much more than just sponsors. They are our partners, they are true traveling companions, friends with unshakeable convictions. And I will add that they are the best one could wish for. Despite the storm and the bad seas, they did not jump from the boat. They held on and gave us their valuable support. They showed great loyalty and a sense of responsibility towards all members of our family. I can only praise them ". This season, the Marc VDS team is competing in Moto2 Sam Lowes et Augusto Fernandez. In MotoE, the spearhead will be Mike Di Meglio.
