Faced with the coronavirus, Johann Zarco declares himself quite fatalistic at the microphone of RMC Sport. Without taking unnecessary risks, he does not ask too many questions and is content to follow what Dorna says, which he considers more prudent than him.

On the other hand, the French driver thinks that this more than disrupted start to the championship could be an opportunity to seize, relying on a certain logic that he explains.

Johann zarco : “My rhythm is particular. I missed three races last year. I was on a KTM. I then discovered a Honda for only three Grands Prix. Then, another two-month break, which corresponds to the winter break, and the discovery of my new motorcycle this year, the Ducati, which I was able to test for six days. And once again, a break of a month and a half is necessary before the first Grand Prix of the season in the United States due to the coronavirus epidemic.

I'm used to this unique rhythm, I hope it will work to my advantage. It's true that I was happy with my tests. I wanted to start in Qatar. But hey, since last year it's almost my daily life to have long breaks and to have to get up to speed once I get on the bike. It’s true that the pilots are upset with this cancellation and this postponement. But I’m used to being upset.”

Given this potential advantage, what is the Cannes resident's objective for the hoped-for first race of the season in Texas?

“Austin is a difficult track, especially physically. But the objective will be to finish in the top ten. The bike, I think, has the ability to go to the podium. It's up to me to keep up with the best drivers. I had good feelings during testing. I want to do better than others. Everyone stops in their tracks with this disrupted preparation, and I am more used to this than they are. Hoping this will be useful to me. »
