As in February 2017, the official presentation of the Honda MotoGP team with Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa will take place soon in Jakarta, where not only is motorcycle racing extremely popular, but where a phenomenal amount of motorcycles are also sold.
Thus in 2016, 5,9 million motorcycles were sold in Indonesia, although the market was down 9,2% (6,48 million in 2015). Of this total, Honda's market share is 77,8%. Its local distributor Astra Honda Motor has released its CB500F in a new color (“more masculine and aggressive”) and wants to promote it, as well as the entire range.
Astra Honda Motor has been a sponsor of the official team through its brands "Satu Hati" and "One Heart" since 2011, when the drivers were Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso.
The oil company Repsol, Honda's main partner in MotoGP, would have appreciated the presentation being done as in the past in Madrid, with live streaming, but Honda is more sensitive to the number of potential customers in Indonesia than in Spain where they sell at barely 150 motorcycles per year.
