Quartararo and Zarco offered a double Marseillaise.

Two French drivers have just made history this evening, and they are Johann Zarco accompanied by Fabio Quartararo. By delivering its verdict following the Qatar Grand Prix, the second round of the MotoGP championship identified under the seal of the Doha Grand Prix brings to life a unique and unprecedented moment for French motorcycling, speed version. The provisional general classification of the premier category thus presents a physiognomy never seen before with two French people at the top of the championship... And the best is perhaps yet to come!

Therefore, Johann zarco is the third Frenchman to lead the world championship in the major Grand Prix discipline. He succeeds in statistics to Pierre Monneret who held the lead for 2 races in 1954 and fabio quartararo who held the lead for 7 races last year.

But that's not all: for the first time in history, two French people occupy the first two places in the world championship. With its two dolphin places, Johann zarco count 40 points, while with his victory in Doha added to his top 5 in Qatar, Quarterly claims 36 units, tied on points with Casa Particular in Viñales his teammate.

This achievement of fabio quartararo is also the 10th victory of Yamaha at Losail which therefore achieved a score identical to that of Jerez and Le Mans for the brand. But it is still less than Assen (17 times), Misano (14), Barcelona (13), Brno and Mugello (12).

Zarco and the closest race in history

With his second place, Johann zarco records its 9th podium in the upper class, the 2nd this year. And we had to look for this result since we only regret 5 “382 between the first and the tenth and 8″ 928 between the first and the 15the. This Doha Grand Prix broke both records as the closest race in the history of the category which is currently 911 trials, all times combined.

Behind the leading trio is the official Ducati rider bagnaia who leads the chase, already 14 lengths behind the leader who rides in a Ducati satellite team... The two factory riders Suzuki follow with in particular a Mir World Champion who lost big in the battle between him and Jack Miller. The Australian, angry at having been pushed around by the Majorcan, then settled his scores, also ruining his race. His provisional ninth place certainly does not reflect his objectives for this season.

A special mention to conclude should be given to George Martin which arises in the seventh row. The rookie showed great spirits in this Doha race after taking pole position. These are his adversaries MotoGP warned...
