If, during FP1, Andrea Iannone placed his Aprilia in 15th position but within shooting distance of that of his teammate 5 hundredths faster than him, the gap became almost abysmal at the end of FP2, with more than one second behind Aleix Espargaró.

The explanation lies in a bet that the Italian driver made, by not using a second soft tire for an attack against the time, thus keeping the latter for an FP2 which will therefore be decisive tomorrow.

The Maniac also continued to work to try to find the best race configuration, and finally finished 19th with a time of 1'55.432, but satisfied with the work accomplished.

Andrea Iannone : “It didn't go bad, considering that I didn't use two soft tires to attack the time like my rivals did, but only one. With these temperatures, the medium tire is not the one that works best. We also saw it during testing. It could be a gamble, but I'm used to always working towards the race. It is clear that in these conditions it will be difficult tomorrow, in the third free practice session, to improve the times we achieved today, but that does not mean that I will not try. We have also worked to improve the turning ability and we have found some changes that help us, but it costs us a little grip. Tomorrow, we will put together the different solutions to take full advantage of the whole.”
