MotoGP Qatar J3, Enea Bastianini (Ducati/5) is already preparing for Portugal: “I have a score to settle”

Enea Bastianini, fifth in the Qatar Grand Prix, did not surprise the motorcycle world this Sunday. Starting from third place, we could have expected him to be a little better at the finish, that's for sure, and he is the first to blame himself. Clearly, tire wear did not work in his favor, as was the case for many other drivers on the grid, exactly like Pedro Acosta. “Bestia” did not really anticipate the phenomenon, but does not draw hasty conclusions. The season is long, very long in fact, and this is only the beginning.

Enea Bastianini is back. It is clear that his demons of 2023 are far behind him, even if he remains considerably less dangerous than Pecco Bagnaia as he admits today to the microphones of GP One : “I could have done better, even if I didn’t have Pecco’s pace.” But why could he have finished this race in a better position? His Ducati, like others, was greedy for rubber, and he didn't really think about saving it. « After yesterday's Sprint, the tires weren't really worn. This is why I have not been conservative. There was a lot of vibration, and generally speaking, we have struggled to improve since Friday. This race was full of lessons, we will have to analyze » he added.

 

 

In two weeks, the meeting is set for Portimao, in Portugal, where its 2023 season changed. Hit by Luca Marini's motorbike – which had fallen, he was taken to hospital and missed the entire first half of the exercise. “I will try to be more competitive because I have a score to settle. I haven't mastered the Desmosedici GP24 100%, but it's already better than the GP23” he asserted.
