MotoGP Qatar: The drivers are smashing the records, Canal+ too!

The final weekend saw MotoGP riders smash three records at the Losail circuit in Qatar.

• Johann zarco (Pramac Racing) recorded the absolute speed record in MotoGP with 362,4 km/h.
• Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) took the fastest pole position at the Losail International Circuit in 1'52.772.
• Maverick Vinales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) won the first round of the season and set the race lap record in 1'54.624.

Quelle est la part de ces ingrédients dans le succès rencontré par la diffusion du Grand Prix par Canal+ ? Sans doute minime par rapport au fait que ce dernier, en clair, était accessible à tous, sans abonnement. De plus, la chaîne avait mis l’accent sur les sport mécaniques avec son émission quotidienne “En Pole”, préparant ainsi son opération séduction du dimanche.

We are not going to complain about it, quite the contrary, and luck favoring the daring, the MotoGP race rewarded French enthusiasts, and undoubtedly the new audience reached by Canal+, with great intensity and suspense until the last turn.

Ultimately, nearly a million and a half viewers saw the superb performances of Maverick Viñales and Johann Zarco, and even 1,61 million at peak.

Notons également que la MotoGP a bénéficié de “l’aspiration” du Grand Prix de Bahreïn F1, lui aussi en clair et sanctionné par un nouveau record d’audience grâce à 1,89 millions de téléspectateurs.

Motor sports therefore had a very good start to the season, with MotoGP having nothing to be ashamed of, except with pleasure, in the face of F1's colossal budgets.
