Qatar Honda Yamaha

The Qatar test before the start of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship revealed some impressive top speed values, especially on the long straight of the Losail circuit, which measures 1,068 km. Although the absolute record was not broken in this test, pilots achieved remarkable speeds.

The current top speed record in MotoGP is 366,1 km/h, established by Brad Binder on a KTM during the sprint race Mugello Last year. However, when testing the Qatar this year the Ducati factory rider Enea Bastianini recorded the highest top speed, reaching 355,2 km/h. Brad Binder followed closely with a maximum speed of 351,7 km/h.

Despite the less than convincing performances of certain drivers, the list of top speeds highlights differences between the teams. The two pilots Yamaha rank in the top 10, confirming the improvements brought by the evolution of the new so much demanded by fabio quartararo.

The Aprilias lagged behind in Qatar but they didn't have their new engine yet

On the other hand, theAprilia RS-GP finds itself at the bottom of the pack in terms of top speed, but the Italian manufacturer had not yet deployed the final stage of development of its engine, which it will only do at the season opener at the Grand Prix of Qatar. A hell of a technical challenge.

It is also interesting to note that only Yamaha et Honda will be allowed to continue the development of their engines during the season, thanks to new concessions, while the other manufacturers must approve the specifications of their engine before the start of hostilities, and stick to them.

Here is the ranking of the best peak speeds at Losail, bearing in mind that the absolute record in this area on the Losail route is a 362,4 km/hDirected by Johann zarco on Ducati Pramac in 2021…
