Net dominator since the start of the weekend, Andrea Dovizioso was a little less effective during the qualifying session having to settle for fifth position behind Johann Zarco, Marc Marquez, Danilo Petrucci and Cal Crutchlow. But that does not prevent him from remaining the main favorite if we take into account all of his performances since Friday.

Andrea started by setting the best time in FP1 in 1'55.366, then finished the day in first position with a time of 1'54.361.

During the fourth free practice session, the one which took place in racing conditions, Dovi was the fastest in 1'55.248. He was ahead of the other Ducati GP18 of Danilo Petrucci, which proved that the Desmosedici were at ease on the Losail circuit.

Qualifying went less spectacularly. Andrea set the fifth time in 1'54.074, which was very good in itself, but he was nevertheless beaten by Johann Zarco, Marc Marquez, Danilo Petrucci and Cal Crutchlow.

According to Andrea Dovizioso “Today we found special conditions because there was a lot of wind and a lot of dust on the track, so it was not as good as in the tests, nor as yesterday.

“Since we can still find these conditions tomorrow during the race, we have been working on it and my feeling is still very good.

“In qualifying, when I put on the second tire, I found myself in the middle of traffic, I slowed down and I couldn't set up my fast lap.

“Fifth position on the grid is not bad and I think we are ready for the race because we have taken a big step forward. »
