While in Milan, on the occasion of the EICMA, Marc Márquez, at the age of 26 and with eight world titles under his belt, took pleasure in lavishing, on the stand Honda, advice to all those who are new to motorcycling.

The world champion therefore went to meet his fans on the Honda stand during the EICMA in Milan. He shared his experience acquired in the world of motorcycle racing, providing advice to those who would be tempted to embark on a career as a professional motorcycle rider or simply obtain their motorcycle license.

The native of Cervera, however, wanted to point out that the motorcycle used on the street is “different” from the one used on a circuit. And answering the question if you could go as fast in town on a motorcycle as on a circuit, Marc Marquez cut it short, responding: “ the street is not a playground for letting off steam on the handlebars of a motorcycle. I tell my friends that if they want to have fun, push a little, you pay entry to a circuit and then you can go fast, that's what it's designed for. »

« But don't do this on the road, it's dangerous, you must respect road safety rules." remember Marc Márquez, then showing his motorcycle driving license, and specifying that he has never been fined for a traffic offense.

Some fans then asked him how his motorcycle driving test went. The big brother ofAlex Marquez has explained : " I went with my brother to Lleida. There was the examiner when we arrived and there was also the son, the cousin, the cousin… We took photos. We put on our protections, helmet and gloves and did the test. I already knew what awaited me, especially regarding the circuit test. »

The Spaniard admits that he feels “ safer on the circuit » because it is precisely a secure place, where everything, in terms of security, is thought of. And according to the Catalan pilot, road safety “can be further improved”. He adds: “it is clear that one hundred percent security will never exist. The first thing to do is to educate drivers about not driving with their cell phones. For example, handling WhatsApp while driving is not conceivable. Ultimately, a WhatsApp can cause an accident and damage to another » insists the pilot who is very sensitive to this cause.

5 years ago, even his mother did not imagine that her son could have a motorcycle license. “ I got there but I have also reconsidered a lot of things since then, I am aware of the risks that surround me when I am on a motorcycle on the road, danger is everywhere. I'm only 26 years old, I'm young, I surprise myself by being so calm, composed and patient when I'm at the handlebars of my machine » he confides.

Marc Márquez concludes by sending a strong message to the youngest: “ be careful. Learning to ride a motorcycle is not learned overnight, it is by doing a lot of kilometers that experience is acquired. I recommend it one hundred percent. Power is not at all interesting at first when you start competing. I started in the small categories and moved up. You don't have to want the first bike, you have to be the strongest. »
