fabio quartararo will be stronger in 2021 in a third season of MotoGP which will be his first under official colors Yamaha . Because 2020, which could have been that of consecration, will have been that of great learning. Nothing is ever taken for granted in this category, and this situation has been exacerbated this year, with 14 races concentrated in Europe from July to November, sometimes including two meetings on the same route in two consecutive weekends.
Quarterly, in this interview, does not emphasize the problems encountered by Yamaha which, however, were not insignificant in stopping the good momentum given from the start. The compatriot of Johann zarco prefers to concentrate on himself, because he knows and admits without flinching that he has, for a moment, lost his footing.
He states thus: “ I also had problems in my head. I wasn't prepared to find myself there. I lacked experience. I could have achieved better results ". An assessment which is close to that of Marc Marquez formulated on his behalf and which had initially seemed cruel in pointing out that, unlike the one who materialized, in this case Joan mir, the Frenchman had never found himself in the situation of being a World Champion.
Quarterly furthermore develops: “ looking back, when I really look at my races, I learned a lot from this championship. There were a lot of firsts for my second year in MotoGP. It was the very first time that I found myself leading a world championship.. This has never happened to me before in Moto3 or Moto2. I also had to manage my first successes in the premier category ».
Quartararo is sharp
He adds : " In difficult times, we learn even more than in good times. Just after the French Grand Prix at Le Mans and until the end of the season, I experienced a lot of difficult moments. Times when I didn't understand what exactly was happening on the bike. Times when I asked myself questions I shouldn't have asked myself. After Portimão, two or three days later, I was not happy with my season. I gained a lot of experience this year and that will help me for next season. I know what I need to work on. I'm really looking forward to 2021 to implement everything I've learned this season ».
fabio quartararo also reveals the strength of his physical condition. So, if the tricolor was not good in his head, his body was well and truly sharp: “ I do a lot of running. It helps me a lot on the bike. I feel the benefits, I am not out of breath. I don't ride a bike at all but a lot of kilometers running, between 60 and 100 kilometers per week. I work a lot with elastics. I don't do too much weight because I tend to gain a lot of muscle. I felt great physically this year and I will continue on the same basis as 2020 to prepare for 2021 ". A season, where, decidedly, Quarterly will want to show another face.
