Raul fernandez

Raul Fernandez spoke before starting the last three races that remain for him on the handlebars of a KTM with which the relationship is difficult. He is not the only one in this case, since his neighbor in the box Remy Gardner is no more fortunate in what will have been, just like for him, a first experience in MotoGP. But where the Spaniard differs from the Australian is that he will have the chance to repeat a season at this level of competition while the reigning Moto2 World Champion will have to leave the scene to try his luck in WSBK. And all this does not leave Raul Fernandez indifferent.

Raul fernandez saved himself from this difficult first year in MotoGP by managing to get into the good graces of Aprilia via a Razlan Razali who always believed in him. The Malaysian was still in the colors of Petronas Yamaha when he tried to attract the Spaniard who was not against it into his ranks. A rapprochement which then triggered a series of events at KTM which brings us to this current situation where there are only disappointed people.

On this episode which led him to find himself in MotoGP on an RC16, Raul fernandez comment on motorbikemag : " when you make a decision or they make a decision for you, there is nothing we can do about this decision that was made at that time. Due to various circumstances I had to be in MotoGP today ". But it was still useful to him, since he pointed out at the same time: “ I think I am ready both physically and mentally ».

Before taking stock, he looks to the other side of his box to focus on the case of Remy gardner : " I have a very good relationship with him » he assures. “ Your teammate is always the first rival and really, you have friction. Whoever says he never had friction with his teammate is lying, because you always have friction, because we are drivers and we are fighting for the same dream. But it's true that I have the impression that the relationship with Remy, within the rivalry, was very healthy. When I fell and he won, I went to applaud him, and vice versa. And this is something very difficult to achieve ».

Raul Fernandez: “ Remy Gardner is a very good person and I am very frustrated with the situation he is going through »

He adds : " last year until the last race we were very respectful towards each other, even this year when we started ". From there, he admits: “ I feel bad. Many times, I put myself in his place and I feel a little bad about the situation he is going through.. It's true that it seems strange to me that a rider who has won races, who fought for a title and who is a world champion, which says it all, doesn't have a motorcycle. It's shocking. I feel really bad for him, I really do ».

All the same, he finds cause for comfort: “ now he will experience a new stage, a beautiful stage. I think he's going to be a very happy person, he's going to have a good time, he'll also show that he's a great driver and he'll win wherever he goes. I wish him good luck. We have a very good relationship, I think he is a very good person and I am very frustrated by the situation he is going through, because I wouldn't wish it on anyone, even less on a person like Remy ».

On his personal case, Raul fernandez mention : " I gave everything I had, all my knowledge and I tried to contribute everything. Furthermore, I often get off the bike with the feeling that I gave everything, that I have nothing left and we are 19th... On the one hand, I am a little frustrated not to have obtained more results, but on the other hand, I know I gave it my all in that moment. I think I haven't even shown 20% of my potential ". See you in 2023 to discover the remaining 80%.
