If on the side of the CEO of CryptoDATA the emphasis was placed on the sporting challenge of the project and the establishment within some time of an innovative platform for team communication, Wilco Zeelenberg et Razlan Razali were more concrete, each in their own field.
Thus, the latter did not hide the serious difficulties encountered by the team following the departure of the former title sponsor WithU: “We know everything that happened last year. We are a team where, like cats, we have nine lives and we have already used three of them (laughs). When last year, in Aragón, our main sponsor decided to stop its sponsorship, of course, as a team you are in serious difficulty. So we were really in big trouble! But at the same time, a star started to shine for us because CryptoDATA was already the sponsor of a race in Austria for the next three years and they were looking to be title sponsor in MotoGP. So the first meeting we had with Bogdan Maruntis (global strategy expert) on Saturday afternoon of the Aragón weekend was more to talk about replacing the title sponsor in the future. Then when he came back on Sunday it was already something bigger, and after talking with Bogdan and on the phone with Ovidiu, these boys showed themselves to be young, ambitious, aggressive, and bringing new ideas to the sport and in MotoGP. And not just to MotoGP as an event sponsor, but also to the team, because of what they think could be done better. So that’s the risk we took with them. »
As Team Principal, Razlan Razali will continue to lead the team from a sporting point of view and have control over the competition, while Ovidiu Toma will take care of the business and the platform announced as totally innovative for communicating with fans.
While waiting for it to be put online, the role of Max Biaggi in the arrival of Sterilgarda on the Aprilia RS-GP fairings was defined quite briefly but precisely by Razlan Razali : “Yes, I have spoken to Max about Sterilgarda since last year, and it was purely for sponsorship and moving Sterilgarda from his old team in Moto3 to MotoGP. His role is therefore to manage Sterilgarda in our team for this year. That's all. »
