The Suzuki rider concluded the first Austrian race with a blank result but is already showing his motivation for the next Grand Prix, on the same Red Bull Ring track, from Friday.

Alex Rins has continued to show good things since his return from injury and to impress with his performance. If he were not physically impaired, he would undoubtedly be a contender for victory every weekend. And yet, even injured, he allowed himself to overtake for the lead of the race, on the Red Bull Ring.

Unfortunately for him, his Grand Prix ended there with a loss of the lead and a lot of disappointment, but also with the satisfaction of being indeed there, at the front.

Starting from the third row, he had proven his speed during practice and was logically expected in the top 5. A little more difficult at the start of the race, he took advantage of the second start given following the red flag linked to the impressive fall of Johann Zarco and Franco Morbidelli, to get back into rhythm and consider winning. This possibility is therefore postponed until next weekend, on the same route.

“I started the first race well, but then I couldn't keep the same pace because I felt a certain blockage”, he explained. “And then there was the huge crash and it was terrifying. I would also like to express all my support to the drivers involved. »

“In the second start I felt really good with the bike and with the rear tire. When I was behind Dovizioso I knew I had the pace to lead, so I overtook him where I felt the best, which was turn 6. But then I lost forward and I fell, which is a real shame. The championship is very close so I'm ready to put that behind me and focus on next weekend. »
