The start of the school year is getting closer for a MotoGP which has started to pack its machines and its protagonists to pack their suitcases to head to Malaysia. It is in fact in Sepang that the start of the school year will take place at the beginning of February. The track will first have a quality “shakedown”, since the rookies will be able to benefit from it. Then, from February 7 to 9, it will be the first big rehearsal of the year. Hervé Poncharal is already ready to do battle with his KTMs. It sets the tone for the upcoming campaign...

Hervé Poncharal is at the head of the team's destiny Red Bull Tech3 KTM and he can't wait to hear his two state-of-the-art RC16s roaring on the track. This will be the case in a little over two weeks for Sepang. Before his troops plunge into the Malaysian furnace, he displays his ambitions for a 2020 season which will be done with Miguel Oliveira for the second time and Iker Lecuona for the first.

« In 2019, we achieved an eighth place at Spielberg as our best result. Miguel was always healthy and fit. The opportunities for 2020 are difficult to assess. But we have to fight to go straight to Q2, we have to be in the top 10 after FP3. It will be difficult, but we must try to do it » reveals the French boss.

He pursues : " I hope we can do it. In the race, I trust Miguel to have a top 8. I'm happy to have a 20-year-old starter like Iker. It would be good for the first year that he regularly scores points. But we know the level in MotoGP. »

Hervé Poncharal also expects an interesting battle for the rookie of the year title. “ Because now we have Álex Márquez on a Honda factory bike, Brad Binder on a KTM factory machine and Iker Lecuona on another KTM. On paper, you might think Lecuona has no chance against Márquez and Binder. But I'm not so sure. I don't think he's going to be the slowest starter. » We will recall that Tech3 won the competition for the best rookie of the season in 2017 with Johann zarco.

Machine design Tech3 in 2020 will be very different from that of the orange Red Bull Factory team. Instead of the Red Bull energy drink, Tech3 will promote the Red Bull Organics range – with completely new colors for cola, lemon, ginger and tonic. According to the site speedweek...
