Clear winner of the first meeting of the virtual race at Mugello, Álex Márquez this time had to settle for the last step of the podium. He suffered the law of Bagnaia but also of Viñales. And he was barely able to save the family honor against his brother Marc. This is promising for the rest of shared confinement!
Alex Marquez can nevertheless be satisfied with its record after falling twice due to the mistakes of competitors. His teammate Marc Márquez of the Repsol Honda Team renewed its top 5 after that of the Mugello.
The second #StayAtHomeGP of 2020 proved to be an eventful one, with drivers battling frantically for over ten laps on the Red Bull Ring. Qualifying between the drivers was close, with only a tenth separating the drivers from the front row. Álex was in third place on the starting grid, with Marc a tenth behind in fourth position.
After winning the first race, Alex Marquez seemed fit again but was unfortunately forced off the track twice by other drivers. Despite two falls, the 23-year-old remained focused and continued his race to secure a podium with a well-deserved third place on the Red Bull Ring.
Marc Márquez was competitive once again on his virtual Honda RC213V and achieved his best place in the series by finishing fourth. Trying to avoid trouble in the opening laps, the world champion found himself in contention for the podium at the halfway mark. Unfortunately, a mistake made during a battle with his teammate allowed Marc to break away from the fight for the top three and take solid points by finishing fourth.
« An exciting race! » Alex exulted. “ I'm happy to be back on the podium after an intense race at the Red Bull Ring. There were some very aggressive riders in the race and I crashed twice with the others. For sure, being able to get on the podium with two falls is something very special, so I really have to enjoy it, even though I thought I could have fought for victory again. It's a race! I hope everyone who watched had a good time, it was nice to go racing with everyone again. »
« Like the first race, it was really fun to race with everyone " finished Marc Márquez. " We were in the top 5, so I'm happy with the consistency and we were a little closer to where we wanted to be. The most important thing is that we put on another great show for the fans. Congratulations again to Álex for another podium. »
Given the atmosphere, we expect a third date at any moment…
