Next weekend, Remy Gardner will make his MotoGP comeback for the third time this season. After replacing Alex Rins in Germany and competing as a wildcard in the British Grand Prix in place of Cal Crutchlow, the Australian rider, usually competing in WorldSBK on the Yamaha R1, will be at the start of the Japanese Grand Prix from October 4 to 6 on the Iwata factory M1.
Linked to Yamaha since his arrival in Superbike in 2023, Gardner returns to the Motegi track, where he has not raced for two years. His presence is explained by the prolonged absence of Cal Crutchlow, recovering from an injury, and by the will of Yamaha to strengthen its presence on home soil with a wild-card driver.
Unlike Silverstone, where it sported a distinct livery, this time the third YZR-M1 will wear the official colours of Monster EnergyYamaha. Gardner, enthusiastic about this new opportunity, expressed his motivation and desire to contribute to the development of the team:
« I'm really excited to race in Japan, it's a country I've always loved visiting for Grand Prix races, but To go to Japan and race for a Japanese manufacturer in MotoGP in front of Japanese fans will be something special. ", said Gardner.
Remy Gardner: “ At Yamaha, they clearly feel that I bring something to the development program. »
He adds : " It's nice that after Sachsenring and Silverstone, Yamaha asked me to come back. They clearly feel that I bring something to the development programme, so hopefully we can have a productive weekend in Motegi as well. ».
For the Australian, the coming weeks promise to be intense: " It will be a busy time for me with five races in five weeks, but I ride my motorcycle almost every weekend anyway, so this is nothing new to me! »
After an eventful season and a successful transition to the championship World SBK, Remy gardner has another chance to show his talent in MotoGP. Japanese and international fans are eagerly waiting to see what the Australian will bring to the Motegi track.
