It won't be for real, but it won't count for nothing. What ? This virtual race with authentic pilots with real controllers in hands more accustomed to holding handlebars. This time, it will be the sofa more than the saddle. It is certainly less dangerous on the Mugello bump, the route chosen for this unique competition. But the coronavirus is remaking the world for us with each passing day... Still, in the end, there will be a winner. Which means an involved Marc Márquez. No wonder: his brother Álex, who will be there, had already pointed out that, even as a child, he hated losing at marbles...

So you can imagine that in the video game in a game where he will be faced with his usual opponents on the track, he will not be the type to give up. An event taken very seriously because even the team Repsol Honda issued a press release as if it were a normal Grand Prix. Something to delight the organizer!

Marc Márquez comments as follows: We're all going through a tough time, so it'll be really good to have some fun and bring some action to the fans. We are doing this for everyone who loves MotoGP, to give them something good during these incredibly difficult days, thanks to the other riders and the championship for putting this together. I've been staying at home, still training as much as I can while staying safe. Alex and I love playing MotoGP together, but now we have to be a little more serious. No matter what we do, as drivers we want to win! With only six laps of the race, I think we can be aggressive and push until the end. I can't wait to race! »

The eight-time winner having clearly announced the color, his brother and complete teammate: “ we have a responsibility to encourage people to stay indoors and follow the guidelines, if they can't come to the races, then we can bring the races to them. I took the advice and stayed indoors, adjusting my training and lifestyle so we could all get through this. I thought my “running debut” would be a little different, but I’m looking forward to it, anyway. Normally I'm quite competitive in MotoGP gaming when playing with friends, so I'm not sure if I'm a real beginner, but it is very difficult to know the level of the other drivers. Let's see how it goes, Mugello is a fun circuit to drive because it is very fast and especially in turn 1 you can make big overtakes. I hope fans can enjoy this event with us! »

We will recall that the duo Repsol Honda is among a host of MotoGP riders in this weekend's #StayAtHomeGP race, a special race from the MotoGP19 video game. On Sunday March 29, Marc and Álex will participate in a qualifying session to determine the starting grid for the race a few minutes later.

With limited racing time during the event, preparation and pre-testing will be essential to get their virtual RC213Vs dialed in. The race will be broadcast live on YouTube from 15:00 p.m. CET. A fun moment that Valentino Rossi declined…
