What will become of MotoGP, or even the Grands Prix, without a Valentino Rossi involved in the competition? For some, there would be no need to worry. The system put in place will withstand this shock. For others, the collateral effects will inevitably be felt. But for everyone, nothing will ever be the same again. One of his close friends, Aldo Drudi, expresses his feeling as an artist, a vocation which puts his tone in unison…

He is part of the close guard of Valentino Rossi and it is aboutAldo Drudi. He is the one who has always been mobilized to implement his ideas on his helmet. He is the designer who has accompanied the Doctor throughout his long career and who will also create the last special helmet of the man of Tavullia. Interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Drudi gave his own vision of what the World Championship will be like without Valentino: “ many people are still trying to figure out what it will be, but for me a lot of things are already at the limit. I'm talking about the management of the world championship, the way the live broadcasts are organized and the information which should be more formal, without a lot of news shouted and then perhaps denied ».

« It seems to me that everyone is treated like a freak, but no one really is, and everyone is immediately fast without knowing why. We are at the limit in terms of safety: you just have to look at what is happening in Moto3, the loopholes on the tracks or the speed of the motorcycles. Do we really need 360 km/h motorcycles? I understand that we are moving forward, but we set no limits ».

Drudi regrets that Rossi did not have the same honors as Schwantz

Valentino decided to say goodbye to the motorcycle before the Grand Prix of Styria. A wasted moment according to Drudi who expresses his regrets thus: “ the context didn't help: for Schwantz's farewell, there was a press room standing and applauding for five minutes; for Valentino, a small room with four journalists and a few others... I was hoping he would be moved, but he keeps things to himself. Vale is a tough guy, and one luxury he's never had is crying: I've never seen him do it, even though he's often been in contact with pain. In the announcement, he chose his usual defense of the world by taking refuge in lightness and he posed it with his usual lightness ».

He adds : " he always took his responsibilities: he did not unload on others without being self-critical. He knew his decisions resulted in important outcomes for many people, and that's how he treated them ". As an artist himself, Drudi projects himself onto a Valentino who would have been a musician or a painter… “ If he had been a musician, he would have been a jazz musician because in jazz you have to know all the details of the music to then do your number and Valentino has the ability to manage everything, but then to release this solo which is only your work ».

What if he had been a painter? Drudi announces the color Picasso: he knew how to draw and paint in a classical way, but to the point of interpreting the figures by almost destroying them. So this is a higher level. To be great, after all, you have to be a little crazy ».

Drudi ends with this summary on Valentino Rossi : " he's a badass with passages of refined sweetness. At the last conference, I realized that I was lucky to have worked with a giant. As a sportsman and as a man ».
