Rossi and Marquez stick to their positions...

The series of DAZN Spain entitled “Ruta 46-Ruta 93” got to the heart of its subject which is the relationship between Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez since the 2015 Malaysian Grand Prix. The previous episodes had served to set the scene by retracing the career and environment of the two champions. Then, focusing on this Sepang incident, it became obvious that the wound remained open with a Doctor admitting to maintaining his conviction of Marquez's plot to prevent him from reaching a tenth title which was then within his reach. The episode revealing the collision only revealed the immensity of the gulf separating the Italian from the Spaniard...

Between Valentino Rossi et Marc Marquez regarding the incident of Sepang in 2015, time has done nothing for the matter and very little water has passed under the bridge... The two men alone bring together 17 titles won over the last 25 years. But they are irreconcilable. So the pilot Repsol Honda, asked about what happened, comments: “ Valentino is number 1 when it comes to secret warfare. I was surprised by his statements. He kicked me, it blocked my front brake and caused me to fall ».

Red has always rejected the accusation of having kicked Marquez and explained the reasons for his maneuver, when he pushed Marc towards the outside of the track: “ je voulais lui dire ‘Qu’est-ce que tu fais?’, Je ne comprends pas”. Je ne voulais pas le faire tomber. Il n’y avait pas non plus de coup de pied. Il a touché ma jambe avec le guidon et c’est pourquoi il est tombé ».

Rossi and Marquez didn't see the same thing

The two drivers were summoned by Race Direction once the Grand Prix had finished to provide explanations. Finally, it's the pilot Yamaha who was punished, a penalty forcing him to start from the last position of the grid during the last Valencia Grand Prix. A sanction which prevented Vale from winning the title, although they managed to move up to fourth place. Lorenzo was titled for the fifth time in his career.

We will also recall regarding this sad story that astonishing versions ran at Honda regarding instructions given to its drivers during the last Valencia Grand Prix. Livio Suppo, Racing Consultant, then team manager suggested that as much Marc Marquez which Dani Pedrosa should no longer interfere in a title race that did not concern them. A way of presenting the facts which has never been confirmed, however.
