Since his crash at the French Grand Prix, things have become slightly complicated for Zarco.

Not that the Tech3 driver is unworthy, far from it, and his recent arrival 7 seconds behind the winner in the Netherlands bears witness to this, but the one who had accustomed us to the extraordinary had to go down a notch in the face of the progression of the other motorcycles.

Just before the summer break, however, the German Grand Prix will offer a final chance to shine to the man who currently occupies 4th position in the world championship.

For this, you will have to remember that it is possible, Jonas Folger having demonstrated it last year by seizing second position at home...

Johann zarco, 4th: “The Sachsenring in Germany is a small track, but very interesting and very beautiful. Sometimes we had a lot of rain there, but even then the circuit is incredible and offers a lot of grip, which even bothers me a little, because it's amazing how you can lean the bike in the wet. It takes time to get used to it. When it's dry, I just hope it's also warm, because we feel better like that, primarily on the right side, because there are a lot of left turns, so the right side of the tire is always a little cold. Last year I finished ninth and my old teammate Jonas had an incredible Grand Prix at his local track. I would like to understand what it takes to do the same and be on the podium at Sachsenring, which would be fantastic.”

Hervé Poncharal : “The Sachsenring marks the end of the first part of the season before the whole paddock goes on vacation for a short summer break and, of course, it is always good to end the first part on a positive note. Johann currently occupies fourth place in the provisional ranking. Of course it would be great to keep it, but we know it won't be easy because there are quite a few riders directly behind him.

The Sachsenring will be important on this point in order to go into the summer break with a positive feeling, which helps to rest more and come back with a better feeling when we restart in the Czech Republic. Last year we had a magnificent and incredible emotion seeing our rider Jonas Folger fight for the lead and finish second for his first ever podium in the MotoGP category in front of his home crowd. It was truly unique and it still makes me cry to remember this great feeling for the whole team, but also for Jonas; it was a dream come true. We know we can be strong at this circuit, I also remember some great races that Cal Crutchlow did, finishing second behind Marc Marquez, a few years ago. It's a place with good results and good memories, a place where I think we have a lot of fans. It's always a pleasure to come to the Sachsenring, there is a big crowd, which gives us a good feeling. Very passionate people always make us have a good time there. Hopefully it will be warm. Hafizh is also leading a big fight for his championship which is the best Rookie place. It hasn't been very positive at Assen and I don't think the Sachsenring has been very kind to him so far, but he came to the workshop for a few days, where I said to him: "If you want to be a good driver, you have to be fast everywhere.” “Go out there and have fun, that’s how you get results.” Johann must fight to maintain fourth place and Hafizh will push for points over Franco Morbidelli. Then we will all leave for a few days of vacation before moving on to the second part of the season. »
