The year 2022 marks an important milestone for Aprilia in the history of MotoGP. In fact, the Italian team has obtained Team Factory status. A team which aims to take the new RS-GP 2022 machines to the highest level, it will be able to count on the confirmed drivers Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales but also Lorenzo Savadori, the young driver who has continued to progress since his debut in an extremely demanding category. An adventure in which SC-Project participates as the official technical supplier of exhaust systems with the objective: to design and develop the most efficient line for the RS-GP 2022!

In 2020, Aprilia abandoned their old philosophy of a 4° V75 engine to develop a 4° V90, in order to regain the power they were missing compared to other manufacturers. But that wasn't enough to top the standings, and engineers worked hard in 2021, resulting in Aleix Espargaro's first podium finish at Silverstone. He had already come very close to the podium in Austria, and the Italian machine showed itself more and more competitive as the year progressed.

Still having concessions, Aprilia was allowed to ride during the Shakedown with the regular riders. And this winter, Noale engineers have perfected the bike in many areas. The most obvious concerns the exhaust: the new prototype is equipped with an exhaust from the Italian brand SC-Project, while the 2020 version, which is also used at Sepang for comparison, is still equipped by the Slovenian Akrapovic.

Stefano Lavazza and Marco De Rossi, directors and founders of SC-Project, commented on this new partnership: “The collaboration between the two Italian brands, Aprilia and SC-Project, was born during the year 2020 – with the design and supply of exhausts for the Aprilia RS250SP trophy – and it was strengthened the following year in 2021 with the RS 660 Trophy, for which Aprilia trusted us a second time to develop and produce the Racing exhausts it needed.

These two experiences were the foundations of a third, more ambitious sporting partnership for the premier category: MotoGP. We are proud to join this important project, and of the trust placed in us by the Aprilia Racing team, a symbol of Italian excellence especially at a time when the team officially becomes a factory team this season.

After months of testing and development carried out jointly between our technical department and the Aprilia Racing team, SC-Project has been selected to be the official supplier of the exhaust system for the all-new 2022 RS-GP.

The complete line that we have developed for the new Aprilia RS-GP 2022 is entirely manufactured in our premises in Italy by our engineers and technicians from the competition department. This is a high performance system made entirely of titanium and equipped with an exhaust valve. The latter is made of titanium, cut from a block of titanium. This component is a technological masterpiece that is completely integrated into the electronic management of the motorcycle, the valve allows advanced and extremely precise management of the engine brake: one of the strong points of the new powerful RS-GP.

This new program is truly exciting for all SC-Project staff who are entering into an exciting new partnership between two Italian companies engaged in the most prestigious category of world motorcycle racing: MotoGP. We are now ready to write an important new chapter together with Aprilia Racing, which already has 54 world titles to its name. »
