The announcement of the signing of Pol Espargaró to replace Alex Marquez within the official Honda Repsol team in MotoGP surprised many people at Honda, starting with Álex himself, but also his brother Marc, their common manager Emilio Alzamora, and the team principal Alberto Puig.

Indeed, Álex completed four test sessions for the world's leading manufacturer in Valencia, Jerez, Sepang and Losail. It is therefore difficult – if not impossible – to judge one's abilities over an entire race weekend, and to compare them, for example, with those of the other rookie. Iker Lecuona.

Homer Bosch (pictured above), who is Pol Espargaró's personal manager, told Mela Chercoles of As.com, who “It is incorrect that Pol has a verbal agreement to race next year with the Repsol Honda team. »

He precised “Pol has three proposals on the table currently because he is in negotiations with Honda and Ducati, but also to continue with KTM. »

When asked when the decision would be known, Homer Bosch replied “it is now not very far from making its final decision, but it is not yet done. When his future is decided, he will communicate. »

The evolution of the situation will only complicate things a little more at Honda, Ducati and KTM. It seems that currently not everyone is telling the truth and that it will be some time before there is an official announcement.

“There is no verbal agreement between Pol and Honda” his manager repeated at the end of the conversation.

The question is who is currently telling the truth.

As for the young Márquez, many believe that a place at LCR could suit him better at this stage of his career to learn the MotoGP category without pressure. Whether Álex Márquez himself sees things this way is another question entirely.
