Yonny Hernández is therefore hard at work at Sepang to pilot the Yamaha M1 of the Tech3 team, replacing Jonas Folger.

One-off test or likely to be reissued, this is undoubtedly the big question of these three days for the French team which, in fact, has a Short List that is really... very Short!

The ambient rider has the advantage of having already ridden for five years in MotoGP, without however having broken through since his best season was achieved in 2015 within the Pramac team, resulting in a 14th place in the world ranking brought by 56 points.

Despite a few outbursts (8th at Le Mans 2015), his record remains modest overall and his riding style seems so far more capable of taming a wayward Ducati than of gently steering a Yamaha!

The future of Yonny Hernández in MotoGP therefore remains very uncertain, without even mentioning possible falls during these tests in Malaysia…

Yonny Hernandez : “It’s a good opportunity. I was at the test (WSBK) in Jerez and Hervé called me to see if it was possible to do the test. I said yes. It’s definitely a good opportunity. We have a good team and a good bike to do a good job at this test. We'll see tomorrow about the three days.

Of course, Pedercini knows that I come here to work with Yamaha for the test. He told me that he agreed, that I should go and that he understands that it is a good opportunity for me. For now, we are only working on this test. I don't know. With Hervé, we only talk about this test. I have to stay focused on doing well during this test. I have no pressure. I have a contract in Superbike, so for me it's just a test.

Right now we are focusing on work for the test and the bike. Of course, I won't make first place tomorrow. You have to understand the bike, the team and the tires. Two years ago I was a MotoGP rider and I'm happy for that. I'm really curious because I've ridden a Ducati my whole career and a CRT bike. I'm really curious to ride a Yamaha because I know all the riders who came to this team were really fast. I think with the Ducati you had to slide to go fast. I think with this Yamaha I will need to change that because you need a very fluid riding style. The engine is different. Like I said before, I'm really curious because I just rode a Ducati. Tomorrow is the opportunity to ride a very good bike, a MotoGP. »
