Yamaha Fabio Quartararo

Let it be said, the Fabio Quartararo of 2021 is different from that of last year, a “ other animal » with which he has already identified in this MotoGP season. He is leading this campaign like a boss. Thus, despite the fact that he is only known for one podium in two Austrian races without experiencing victory, he increased his lead in the championship from 34 to 47 points over his closest pursuer. Would the Frenchman therefore be unshakeable? With the Viñales affair, he is in any case now the only one to worthily represent Yamaha's interests in Grand Prix. The defending champion and official Suzuki pointed this out and assured that it would be a lot of pressure to experience, opening up another championship for the tricolor. The latter responds to Joan Mir by announcing the color for the next round at Silverstone…

Next weekend, Silverstone will welcome the British Grand Prix and for Joan mir, it will be the start of a new championship marked both by a renewed form of its Suzuki and a workforce Yamaha weakened by the departure of Casa Particular in Viñales. fabio quartararo would therefore have reason to worry. But the Frenchman doesn’t really share this analysis which makes him smile above all… “ It makes no difference to me. At the last Austrian Grand Prix I already had all the pressure from Yamaha on my shoulders, and it didn't affect my race. I think these comments are a simple strategy to try to put a little pressure on myself. It's a fun game, but rest assured I will be there to fight for victory at Silverstone ».

Mir is warned. And all the more so since the official Yamaha reminds us that he has all the weapons to do well in this Battle of Britain: “ during my first year in the category, I experienced two moments that guided my career: the first was at Jerez and the second to Silverstone. These are two places where I was much faster than usual, and if the conditions are good I'm sure I can fight for a good result ».

Until Misano Fabio Quartararo will not think about the championship

An optimism which also finds its source in the way he now masters his M1: “ in Austria, I made some pretty aggressive attacks without ever really making contact, and I'm happy with that. I was there to fight for the podium, that's for sure, but also for the victory. I'm really able to do great things on the Yamaha, and here we're going from one of the most unfavorable circuits to one of the most favorable in England, so I'm really looking forward to the next round ».

However, fabio quartararo agrees at least on one point with Joan mir : he actually considers that the next three meetings MotoGP, at Silverstone, Aragón and Misano, will be decisive. It is also at the end of this cycle, in a month, that the Frenchman will wish to assess his situation, not before: “ I think that until Misano it is not the time to think about the championship. There will still be circuits where we will encounter difficulties, like in Aragón, and I think it will be very important for us to widen the gap a little on the others to try to keep a very good pace until the end of the season. But I don't want to think about the championship until at least Misano » finishes Fabio.
