The Monster Energy British Grand Prix which takes place on the Silverstone circuit this weekend constitutes the 12th round of the 2021 MotoGP World Championship. However, it is not an event like any other since the 2020 edition which was canceled due to the health crisis and that, in 2018, the three Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP Grands Prix were exceptionally canceled due to bad weather that the track was unable to drain.

We can therefore only refer to the race carried out in 2019 to have some points of reference, even if the latter seems already very distant to us today, with Valentino Rossi qualified second, Johann zarco on the KTM, Andrea Iannone on the Aprilia, Andrea Dovizioso on the Ducati, Jorge Lorenzo on the Honda, or Tito Rabat et Karel Abraham at Avintia…
The 2019 edition was also marked from the first round by the spectacular accident involving fabio quartararo and Andrea Dovizioso.

It is therefore undoubtedly time to make a clean slate of the past, starting for a fabio quartararo leader of the world championship who, in five participations, has never been on the podium in Great Britain: despite a comfortable lead of 47 points over Francis Bagnaia et Joan mir, and 49 on Johann zarco, The Devil will be keen to ward off fate in the crucible of British motorsport, on the former Royal Air Force airfield resurfaced in 2019.

And there is no question of starting to manage, with still 7 races on the calendar, therefore potentially 175 points to be collected: for the moment, all the drivers who have taken part regularly in the championship can still theoretically be titled, with the exception of Lorenzo Savadori which returns to school today with the green light from the doctors.

This morning, the Hondas did well and Marc Márquez, Aleix Espargaro, Fabio Quartararo, Pol Espargaro, Jack Miller, Takaaki Nakagami, Alex Rins, Francesco Bagnaia, Johann Zarco and Alex Márquez have provisionally pre-qualified for Q2. After having been permanently at the forefront, Marc Márquez scared us but didn't seem hurt by his spectacular fall. Let's see what he does this afternoon...

Ultimately, the only thing that appears certain at the start of the weekend is the official weather forecast which promises us a dry track during the three days.

By the time the 22 pilots (Jake dixon substitute Franco Morbidelli) are preparing under a sky that is still uniformly gray with temperatures of 17° in the air and 24° on the ground for this second 45-minute session, let's take advantage of these few live moments thanks to the official website MotoGP.com :

When the red lights go out... it's the brothers Márquez who, like this morning, set off first on the track, thus sending a positive sign as to the state of mind of the eldest!

Like he usually does, fabio quartararo rushes last, since Lorenzo Savadori takes his time after a physically difficult session this morning.

When it comes to tires, the choices are much less homogeneous than in FP1…

fabio quartararo is the fastest after the first flying lap, in 2'02.447, but the French driver then falls violently at turn #8 and seems to suffer from his left leg.

The rear wheel of his motorcycle appears to have hit his leg. Ultimately, more fear than harm and The Devil can return to their box by scooter via the security route.

Meanwhile, Alex Espargaro takes the best in 2'00.670.

After this first salvo during which many pilots improved their morning time, the hierarchy is made up ofAleix Espargaro, Pol Espargaro, Johann Zarco, Francesco Bagnaia, Marc Marquez, Jorge Martin, Alex Rins, Luca Marini, Takaaki Nakagami, all provisionally pre-qualified for Q2, as are fabio quartararo which only appears in 17th position in this FP2.

Alex Marquez then falls at turn #2, in exactly the same place where his brother made a mistake this morning, with the same consequences for his RC213V...

Good news: halfway through the session, Fabio Quartararo returns to the track after taking a ride in his truck to change his equipment.

18 minutes from the checkered flag, the Frenchman, then 15th, lit the first three sectors in red before achieving the provisional best time of the weekend in 2'00.138, thus reassuring the Yamaha clan!

Two rounds later, fabio quartararo progresses by… 6/1000 of a second while Marc Marquez positioned himself in 3rd place.

Takaaki Nakagami et Alex Marquez are the first to take out the soft rear tire for the final rush, before being followed by the majority of drivers.

The first improvement is to be credited to Takaaki Nakagami which re-enters the top 10, then Espargaro Pol progresses from 5th to 2nd position.

Valentino Rossi is provisionally positioned 9th but we are currently in the lead between Fabio Quartararo et Espargaro Pol. Both improve the first three sectors and, ultimately, Fabio Quartararo breaks the two-minute mark in 1'59.317, best time of the day!

Marc Márquez regains third position but is immediately dethroned by Jack Miller et George Martin.

Alex Espargaro gets angry with his brother...

Meanwhile, fabio quartararo continues its effort and is on the verge of improvement but loses time in the fourth sector.

Finally, Fabio Quartararo, Jack Miller, Jorge Martin, Pol Espargaro, Marc Márquez, Francesco Bagnaia, Aleix Espargaro, Brad Binder, Alex Rins and Valentino Rossi are currently pre-qualified for Q2.
