This Friday, August 27, 2021, Alex Rins answered questions from journalists from the Silverstone circuit, at the end of the first day of the British Grand Prix.

We went to listen (via teleconferencing software) to the words of the Spanish driver, who set the ninth fastest time at the end of the first day.

As usual, we report here the words of Alex Rins without the slightest formatting.

How was your first day at Silverstone?

« My first day at Silverstone was good, it wasn't that bad. I was able to be fast with worn tires. When we put the soft tire on the rear, it was pre-heated, and I think the level of this rubber was not that good, which prevented us from being fast. This is why we can observe a difference between Fabio Quartararo's lap times and mine. I think we can still improve tomorrow on these laps. Today we mainly focused on working a lot and accumulating a lot of laps in these cool conditions to say the least. »

You didn't drive here last year. Is this a handicap for you?

« Not really. It's true that we didn't drive here last year, but in the end when you get back on the track you only need two or three laps to get to grips with the braking points and the layout again. The tarmac is also of good quality. I was expecting more bumps, but it ended up being pretty decent. »

The last time you were here you won was in 2019. But since then your performances have been quite fluctuating. What are your expectations for this weekend and do you think this circuit could be a reference for you in the future if you manage to shine?

« It's possible that this weekend will be a reference, yes. If you look back two years ago and put the race aside, it was a disastrous weekend. Today we started FP1 full of enthusiasm, but we still have plenty of problems to solve. I have good feelings and I feel like I'm driving well »
