Marc Marquez had a particularly delicate start at Silverstone. Even if he was never very incisive on the first two days of competition since the start of the year, he struggled, and even fell, without ever having the rhythm necessary to discuss with the best. An unexpected tenth time saves his day, but he is absolutely not satisfied with it. He knows that the gap between his Desmosedici GP23 and the leading GP24s is growing day by day.
Disappointed, with him and the situation. In the mixed zone, the eight-time world champion did not shine and had no other choice but to settle for tenth place during this Practice. « The only positive thing from this day is this tenth place and this passage to Q2. Everything else was not good, I had no feeling and I have to work on myself for tomorrow” he said, not denying that “Fridays have been difficult since the beginning of the year. » While he is arguably the best ever on a tour, he was never able to put his talent to good use during qualifying.

Once again, he had to help himself from an adversary to achieve his goal, however humble he was. Faced with this, he defends himself. « Today is the first time I followed someone on the Practice. I was lost on the trail, completely. If someone has the ability to position themselves well, then I get behind them. I tried to follow Aleix Espargaro, but I also took Jorge Martin's wheel. I really struggled. » A rather worrying admission, it is true, but which in no way eliminates him from the race for victory on Saturday and Sunday.
How to explain this phenomenon ? Quite simply, the qualities of Marc Marquez are diminished by a strange feeling. « I have difficulty entering the corner, which is one of my strong points. Usually, the Ducati allows me to exploit this quality but it didn’t pay off today” he concluded.
