This Saturday August 28, 2021, Fabio Quartararo answered questions from journalists from the Silverstone circuit, at the end of the second day of the MotoGP British Grand Prix.

We went to listen (via teleconferencing software) to the words of the French driver, who qualified in third position today.

As usual, we report here the words of Fabio Quartararo without the slightest formatting.

Fabio, you have signed a new front row, this is your 11th this season. The qualifications still seemed to be a little difficult for you, but you managed the situation well just before during FP4. How was your day ?

« It was a good day, even if I encountered difficulties with the soft tire, already in the morning. I had the chance to do two time attacks during FP3, and I must say that I didn't really have a good feeling on the bike. With the medium tire it was immediately better. Normally during time attacks I immediately manage to find more grip, but that wasn't the case today, and I encountered a lot of problems with acceleration. »

« But the main objective was to be on the first row of the grid. What is certain is that we are no longer going to touch the soft tire. I'm happy because during my first outing during FP4 I attacked quite a bit, but then during the second I was gentler, and that didn't stop me from putting together some good laps, so that made me happy. reassures in terms of my pace and my management of the tires. »

“What is certain is that we are no longer going to touch the soft tire”

Today you drove a lot with the medium tire, while yesterday you rode with the hard tire at the rear. Have you already made a decision about the tires for tomorrow?

« The decision mainly concerns the front tire. I'm hesitating between soft and medium, but it seems that tomorrow the temperatures should be a little higher. If the mercury reaches a certain level, we could risk using the hard tire, but the fact is that even if a given tire is not bad in itself, it is still difficult to use it after a crash. We will make our decision at the last moment, but it will depend a lot on the temperature of the track. »

How is your ankle one day after your fall? Will it be okay for the race tomorrow?

« My ankle feels pretty good on the bike, and it should be fine for the race. I'm just going to go to the clinic and observe some treatments with the physiotherapist, but honestly everything is fine from that point of view. »

Given that Suzuki is not using its holeshot device this weekend, can you tell us what this device brings you at Silverstone?

« We'll see, it saves us so much time that we have to take the risk of using it. But I think we could better feel the benefits of this system in Austria. I don't think it's a big deal for them not to have it. I think everyone uses it the best way they can. »
